Play At Home era uno speciale televisivo di 45 minuti di Channel 4 con diverse band, come New Order, Echo and the Bunnymen, Virginia Astley e Siouxsie and the Banshees. Ogni programma era dedicato a una singola band come un modo per raccogliere pubblicità, ed era permesso loro di esibirsi in modi creativi un po’ spontanei.
I Siouxsie and the Banshees furono invitati nel 1983 e la trasmissione andò in onda nel settembre 1984. La loro session comprendeva lavori dei Banshees, The Creatures e The Glove. Tutti e quattro i membri della band erano presenti all’epoca, incluso il loro produttore Mike Hedges nel ruolo della Regina di Cuori.
Robert Smith era stato affascinato dal gruppo e aveva precedentemente suggerito:
“i Banshees non dovrebbero fare tour, dovrebbero fare qualcosa di veramente ambizioso come Il Mago di Oz sul palco”.
Il che diede a Severin l’idea di adattarla all’episodio “Play At Home”, sostituendo il concetto del Mago di Oz con Alice nel Paese delle Meraviglie, che funzionava bene con il tema dell’etichetta discografica Wonderland dei Banshees.
Il programma contiene una serie di monologhi di ogni membro della band, musica di tutte e tre le band: Siouxsie and the Banshees, The Creatures e The Glove; poi si conclude con filmati di Siouxsie and the Banshees che suonano dal vivo alla Royal Albert Hall.
